About Us
Purple label is the ready to wear jewellery range designed and handmade by Harriet Kelsall Jewellery Design, one of the UK's leading designer jewellery companies specialising in engagement rings, wedding rings and eternity ring. Created by their in-house team of 6 talented young designers, it is all handmade in their own workshops here in England. The collection represents the best in UK fashion jewellery available today and is build on a foundation of imaginative contemporary design, exellence in craftsmanship and sound ethical principles.
Harriet Kelsall Jewellery Design was founded in 1998 by jewellery designer Harriet Kelsall in the spare room of her home. She quickly found success, moving to her first studio in the north Hertfordshire village of Weston - the premises were opened by the Countess of Verulam.
By 1999 Harriet was awash with work, mainly bespoke engagement rings, having won the North Hertfordshire New Business Enterprise Award and the North Hertfordshire New Business of the Year Award presented by Jonathan Ross, and the business began to expand rapidly.
Harriet decided to look around for the best in young design talent to join her team and soon Antoinette Corbishley, Rebecca Howarth and Alice Rochester were on board.
More awards followed - the North Hertfordshire Website Award for their sister website www.hkjewellery.co.uk and a commendation by the judges at the UK Jewellery Awards, the UK jewellery industry's most prestigious award ceremony.
It soon became clear that the company needed a much larger premise as customers were travelling from all over the UK and the world to commission their engagement ring, so a nearby tudor barn was converted into their stunning current headquarters. This new premises was opened by Charlie Higson from BBC TV's The Fast Show.
The company received a finalist placement in the Alternative Retail Jeweller of the Year category, again at the National Jewellery Awards, and soon after they were awarded the Most Successful Business (1-30 employees) at the North Hertfordshire Business Awards.
By 2005 Harriet and the team had opened a new shop in central Cambridge which, alongside the Hertfordshire design studio and shop, displays all of their work including dress jewellery, engagement, wedding and eternity rings.
Kerrie-Ann McNaughton and Tracy Furlong joined up in 2006 bringing the design team to 6 and the Purple Label jewellery collection represents much of their finest work.
